This is so true. As a retired Army officer that had a successful career, I too struggled with the interviewing process. It wasn't until you met with me and explained that I needed to actually sell myself did I actally see what I was missing. I've now had the fortune to interview dozens of people and find that I'm now commenting to myself that they are, or are not, selling the product for which they have the most experience, themselves.
